A Derbyshire charity which offers experiences to people with serious illnesses has received a funding boost from our North Midlands region.
me&dee Charity, based in Melbourne, has received a £1,000 grant from our North Midlands region. The donation was made as part of Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative, helping to leave a lasting legacy in the communities it builds its homes.
Mark Harrison, Head of Operations at me&dee Charity said: “We’re thrilled to receive this generous backing from Persimmon Homes. It’ll make a huge difference.
“We have been operating for 16 years and create memories for both adults and children who have a life limiting, life shortening or terminal illness.
“We offer a break away in our lodge in Sherwood Forest. It’s a place away from hospitals, a tranquil place to be a family again, to make precious memories.
“As well as the holidays, we offer we also send bespoke gift packs to seriously ill children who can't travel. These packs are not a generic pack they are bespoke to the child, making sure that what they receive means something to them.
“This funding will go to this continuous scheme and the funding of it.”
Persimmon Homes is currently building stunning new homes right across the North Midlands, including at Buttercup Leys in Derby.
Nadine O'Dowd, Sales Director at North Midlands region, said: “We’re delighted to be able to support me&dee with this money.
“The charity does amazing work helping families at extremely difficult times. These holidays and times away from the stresses of hospitals and treatment clearly make a huge difference, and it’s a privilege to be involved in that.”
