North Midlands team announces Charity of the Year for 2023
17 April 2023

Our North Midlands team has chosen Leicester-based Heart Link as its Charity of the Year for 2023.
Founded in 1981, Heart Link works to give support to families who have a child with a heart condition. Over the past 42 years, Heart Link’s work has funded vital facilities in Leicester’s hospitals to ensure the best care can be given to young patients and their families.
Previous Charities of the Year for North Midlands include Mia Moo’s Foundation, a regional charity focused on providing holidays for children with cancer, where the team raised £1,674 across 2022. North Midlands will now take part in a range of fundraising activities - including dress-down Fridays - in support of Heart Link throughout 2023.
Graeme Williams, Trustee at Heart Link said: “We're delighted to have been chosen as Persimmon North Midlands’ charity of the year for 2023. Over the years we have become increasingly committed to improving facilities for our young patients, their families and providing much needed valuable medical equipment. Since 1981 we have collected, with the marvellous support and generosity of the general public, well over £6 million. This has been used to purchase vital equipment and fund projects and large and small.
“Our bold fundraising campaign for 2023 is to create additional much needed parent accommodation. At the Leicester Royal Infirmary, we have only four parent bedrooms to offer reduced from 15 at Glenfield Hospital prior to our move. We'd like to thank Persimmon Homes for choosing Heart Link, and wish them the very best of luck with fundraising.”
Dan Endersby, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes North Midlands said: “We’re delighted to be supporting Heart Link in 2023 as our Charity of the Year. We felt it important to raise funds for a heart charity due to the recent tragic loss of one of our Site Managers, and so wanted to help those in the early stages of heart conditions.
“The work that Heart Link does is so vital when families are going through incredibly challenging times. We’ll be planning a calendar of activities throughout the year to support this excellent cause and we’re very excited to get stuck into fundraising.”
