07 November 2022

Persimmon Homes has completed the purchase of land to unlock a major housing development in Helston, South Cornwall.
The site at Clodgey Lane has outline planning persimmon and could provide the delivery of 404 new homes for local people, with 101 properties made available to a local housing association partner in Cornwall.
Plans for the site include a mix of one to four-bedroom homes, with detached, semi-detached and terraced properties.
The development would incorporate sensitive design, and reflect the local vernacular to deliver a long-term sustainable community.
Vast community benefits would also be delivered through the creation of new jobs, significant S106 contributions towards open space and improvements to Cornish education and transport.
Commenting on the purchase, Managing Director for Persimmon Homes Cornwall and West Devon, Adam Church said:
"This is a hugely exciting development that will deliver much-needed homes for local people in South Cornwall.
"If detailed planning is successful, Clodgey Lane will provide 401 high-quality homes which will help address local demand, while delivering significant contributions to improve local services and infrastructure.
“The proposed site opens up a new market for Persimmon in Cornwall and as such will see the generation of significant new job opportunities for the lifespan of the site in the southern part of the county.
“The business is working hard to ensure that the street scenes on the development reflect the local vernacular, and contribute to a scheme everyone in Helston can be proud of.
“This is a site that we have been hoping to purchase for several years, and I would like to thank my team and everyone who has played a part in this process for their hard work in securing this acquisition.”
