Persimmon’s donation boosts playtime for Garforth pupils
08 June 2021
A Garforth primary school has secured a donation to help fund new play equipment.
The Green Lane Primary Academy was awarded £1,000 from the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.
The Friends of Green Lane applied to the housebuilder’s initiative after the effects of Covid-19 put a halt to their play equipment fundraising plans.
Suzanne Hurry from The Friends of Green Lane said: “Our plan was to host a series of fun fundraising events to help raise £30,000 so the school could install new play equipment that will meet the needs of the pupils.
“So far we have raised £7,000 and the current situation is making fundraising a much harder ask, yet the ultimate goal feels even more needed. We are thrilled that the Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire team chose to support our cause. This is the boost we, and the school, needed.”
Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to grassroots groups and charities across the region.
Christopher Hull, managing director of Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: “Community Champions has allowed us to support dozens of good causes and we continue to encourage other such groups to apply – as next month they could be the fortunate beneficiaries.”
