A construction trainee from Portsmouth has explained why – for him – learning on the job is the best way to go.
Josh Nicklin is a trainee site manager with Persimmon South Coast, based at the St Peters Place development at Fugglestone Red, Salisbury. The 19-year-old joined the business a year ago and has been praised by his mentor, Jon Bryan.
“Josh is a really hardworking, professional and intelligent young man,” said site manager Jon. “He always strives for success and we are certain he has a long career ahead of him.”
Persimmon’s comprehensive training programme enables Josh to experience all day-to-day site activities, including materials ordering, liaising with contractors, co-ordinating the build schedule and ensuring all health and safety processes are adhered to.
Josh said: “The training and support I am receiving is exactly what I need to succeed in my career. Every day is a new challenge, and it is great to earn while I learn. I love my job and working for Persimmon”
Managing director Matt Paine added: “Josh is a perfect example of the Persimmon Pathway training programme. The company prides itself on seeing the potential in young achievers and providing them with the career path and support to achieve their ambitions.”
