Royal Albert Youth Academy FC score funding boost

£1,000 donation from Persimmon Homes West Scotland will help fund new youth teams, maintain the historic Tileworks ground, and expand vital community initiatives.
Leading homebuilder Persimmon Homes West Scotland has donated £1,000 to Royal Albert Youth Academy FC, helping the Stonehouse-based club continue its ambitious plans to grow grassroots football in the community.
The Academy, part of Royal Albert FC, plays a vital role in safeguarding the Stonehouse Tileworks Sports Ground — a much-loved local facility the club is working hard to keep open for the benefit of the community and future generations.
Persimmon’s support will help fund the Academy’s existing teams, assist with maintenance of the Tileworks facility, and allow the club to expand by introducing new age groups, including 2016s, 2018s, 2019s, and new girls' teams. It will also bolster the club’s popular community initiatives, such as hosting free events like last year's Stonehouse Gala football night, which welcomed over 200 children.
The donation was made through Persimmon’s Community Champions programme, which supports grassroots groups and charities across Scotland and the wider UK.
Chris Logan, Managing Director at Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said “We’re delighted to support Royal Albert Youth Academy FC as they work to expand their teams and protect a vital sporting hub for Stonehouse. Grassroots football is about much more than sport – it brings young people together, teaches life skills, and strengthens the local community. We are proud to help Royal Albert in their mission to keep the Tileworks alive for generations to come.”
Ross Thomson. Albert FC committee member, added "We were delighted to welcome members of the Persimmon team to Tileworks Park. The money given to us will help us continue the work we have been doing over the coming months. All of our committee and coaches are volunteers, but we are determined to create a facility all of Stonehouse can be proud of in the coming months and years.
"We have lots of ideas on how to keep the Tileworks moving forward but we can only do with the support of the community, and we have certainly had since we took over the running of the Tileworks from the council."
