School coffee mornings benefit from Community Champions

The Countess Wear Community School in Exeter is receiving financial support for its weekly coffee mornings thanks £1,000 donated from Community Champions.
Rachel Pattison from the school explains: “We started running the coffee morning for parents in our local community cafe every Friday. To ensure this is accessible to everyone, we are keen to provide a free cup of tea or coffee for anyone that attends.
“We are located in an area where we have 35% of our children entitled to free school meals, so we know that budgets are tight for so many people. The weekly coffee morning enables us meet and engage with the children’s parents and wider families and it is a good way to get them involved in the school’s activities. It also provides an opportunity to offer help and advice to those who may want some additional support.
“This donation from Persimmon Homes South West is a wonderful boost for us and will go a long way to keeping our work going, so we are very grateful for their generosity.”
Stacey Harris, sales director at Persimmon Homes South West, said: “In these difficult and uncertain times, simply meeting up with other people and sharing a cup of tea or coffee can make such a difference to those who may be feeling vulnerable and isolated. Knowing there is a friendly face and someone to talk to, even if it is just once a week, can be a real lifeline. “
