Scottish Labour Deputy Leader visits Dumbarton housing development

Dame Jackie Baillie MSP officially opens show home at Persimmon Homes’ The Hawthorns site

Jackie Baillie MSP, Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party, has visited Persimmon Homes’ The Hawthorns development in Dumbarton to see first-hand the company’s work in delivering new energy-efficient homes for the local community.
During the visit, Dame Jackie officially opened the development’s show home by cutting a ceremonial ribbon, marking a key milestone for the project. She also took the opportunity to discuss the ongoing housing emergency across Scotland, exploring how homebuilders, councils, and government can work together to deliver more quality, affordable homes for local people.
Located on the site of the former high school and overlooking Cunninghame Graham Memorial Park, The Hawthorns will deliver 68 much-needed, energy-efficient homes for the community. With homes ranging from two to five-bedrooms, the development is catering to a variety of local needs. As part of the development, Persimmon will also make a significant investment in local facilities, including improvements to the park.

Chris Logan, Managing Director of Persimmon Homes West Scotland, said:

"We were delighted to welcome Jackie to The Hawthorns and showcase both the high-quality homes we are delivering and the community benefits our investment will bring.

“The official opening of our show home marks an important step in the development, which is creating affordable routes to home ownership for local families.”
Dame Jackie Baillie MSP said:

“I am very happy to see these new homes in our community. They are already being snapped up, such is the level of the housing shortage facing our area’s residents.”
