Severn Valley supports Mamas Bristol with winter support for local families
25 November 2022
A group committed to supporting families across Bristol has received the backing from Severn Valley region.
Mamas Bristol has secured £1,000 of funding from Severn Valley. Across Britain, we donate up to £64,000 a month to fund initiatives as part of our highly successful Community Champions scheme.
Mamas Bristol CIC was founded in 2018 by Paige Josham. Fed up of trying to buy and sell baby and children’s clothes online, she decided that something had to change and Mamas Bristol was born.
Four years later, Mamas Bristol is now an established brand within the local community, providing a Swaps and Freebies service, Community Aid for signposting and most recently, a #MamasMealboxes initiative.
The organisation has established a Hub in the Bradley Stoke area of the Bristol, which provides families with a safe, warm space with provision of hot drinks, food and emergency aid parcels when required.
Mamas’ also hosts ‘Stay and Plays’ so that isolated parents, carers and children can go for some engaging play and craft time, a warm drink and reduction of social isolation.
The donation will increase the events put on by the organisation to support local people, and Kelsey Booy, Treasurer for Mamas Bristol, said:
“On behalf of Mamas Bristol, I want to thank Persimmon for this incredible support.
“Across the winter and particularly in the run-up to Christmas, we wanted to open the hub more frequently to enable a safe, warm space with provision of hot drinks and emergency aid parcels when required.
“We host regular ‘Stay and Plays’ so that isolated parents, carers and children can come for some engaging play and craft time, a warm drink and reduction of social isolation.
“Persimmon’s generous donation will increase our ability to run more events and help more families in Bristol during this challenging period.”
Carly Spear, Sales Director for Severn Valley said:
“Persimmon Severn Valley is thrilled to support such an outstanding cause in Bristol.
“Christmas should be a joyous occasion for all, but it will come with a set of unique challenges this winter for many families facing the cost-of-living crisis.
“Persimmon’s Community Champions initiative is all about supporting the communities and people in which we build, and this is another deserving recipient in Bristol.
“Mamas Bristol is a fantastic organisation that supports young families, and goes above and beyond to ensure parents and children are looked after.
“We hope our donation can go some way to supporting some parents and children this Christmas thanks to the great work by the team of volunteers at Mamas.”
We are currently building a selection of high-quality beautiful two, three and four-bedroom homes for families in Bristol at sites such as Moorland Grove in Lawrence Weston and Howsmoor Common at Lyde Green.
