A former law graduate has made an award winning start to her career by winning Persimmon Homes Young Achiever award.
Graduate Land Buyer, Sofi Liperis, 23, has been recognised by Persimmon Homes with a national Young Achiever award. The award was presented by chief executive, Jeff Fairburn at a ceremony at the York head office.
The award winning Young Business Trainee of the year, Sofi, joined the Land team at Persimmon Homes South Midlands in September 2014 after deciding that the construction industry was where her future lay.
Sofi said: "I turned down a training contract at a law firm following a week of work experience at Persimmon. I knew straight away that the technical side of planning and land acquisition was perfect for me. The feeling that I am involved in the creation of something from the very start is really exciting and it gives me that chance to see the other side of property law."
Sofi studied Law at Keele University graduating in 2014 and will continue with her studies as she works towards her postgraduate degree in Real Estate Management at Birmingham City University funded by Persimmon Homes.
Sofi’s mentor and the Land Director at Persimmon Homes South Midlands, David McGing, added: "Sofi is a deserving recipient of our national Young Business Achiever award and we are very proud of her achievements. Her law degree gives us a new perspective when dealing with solicitors and we wanted to support her in her ongoing development with her masters."
The Young Achievers award programme was launched by Persimmon Homes in 2014 to showcase young talent who have gone above and beyond to succeed in their role.
Persimmon Homes believes that it is important to invest in the young workforce, with the chief executive, Jeff Fairburn, placing emphasis on the role that trainees can play in the business’s future. Especially considering, he himself started in the construction industry as a 17-year-old apprentice quantity surveyor.
