South Midlands gives £5,000 cash boost to Severn Area Rescue Association
08 December 2023
A search and rescue team based in Tewkesbury has secured a £5,000 donation from our South Midlands team, ensuring that the group has access to the equipment they need to carry out their services.
Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) is a group funded solely by public donations that responds to incidents at request of police and other agencies at all days and times across the year. SARA volunteers train and maintain competencies in multiple disciplines, including Land Search, Rope Rescue, Lifeboats, River and Flood Rescue, Casualty Care and First Aid. The team also operates rescue boats and provides inland water rescue.
Tom Helme at SARA said: “We are so grateful to Charles Church and their kind donation of £5,000 via their Community Champions fund. The support that Charles Church has given us will allow us to purchase another three response kits, allowing us to maintain our ability to respond to incidents. It will also enable the training of three additional Rescue Rope Operators, as well as allowing our existing operators to maintain their qualification.”
Amanda Rogers, Sales Director at Charles Church South Midlands, said: “What we do is about much more than just building homes, it’s about leaving a lasting positive legacy in the communities that we build in. We’re always delighted to lend a hand to local community groups to boost their ongoing initiatives or contribute to causes that mean a lot to them.”
“We’re delighted to be able to offer this £5,000 donation to Severn Area Rescue Association, which will enable the group to carry out their work throughout 2024.”
