STV Children’s Appeal backed by West Scotland

A charity improving the lives of children affected by poverty in Scotland has been given a pre-Christmas boost with a new donation from West Scotland.

STV Children’s Appeal will benefit from £1,000 through our Community Champions scheme, which supports good causes in areas where the company builds. The scheme has seen over £1.5m donated to over 5,000 charities, sports clubs and local organisations across the UK in the last two years alone.

STV Children’s Appeal was launched in 2011 to raise funds to help the one in four children and young people living in poverty in Scotland. The Appeal offers practical help like food and warm clothes, opportunities for training and employability, and social and emotional support. It works closely with leading experts in the field of child poverty, sharing knowledge and expertise with both small community groups and national charities on their experiences of addressing the challenges of child poverty in Scotland.

The cost-of-living crisis has meant that struggling families are finding it even harder to cover their monthly bills, which is negatively impacting children’s health and wellbeing. The donation will go towards helping to ensure these young people don’t go cold or hungry and that they have all the support they need for positive mental wellbeing.
