04 July 2024
The fete, to be held at the St Margaret's Centre in Stratton St Margaret on Saturday, September 14th, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, attracts around 1,000 attendees from the local community. The event features live music, children's entertainment, dog show, exhibitions of dancing and circus skills, a wide range of stalls, food court and bar.
Stratton Community Fete plays a vital role in bringing the community together, offering a day of fun and entertainment for all ages. The donation from Persimmon Wessex will support the organisation in hosting this beloved local event.
The prominent house builder has a long-held presence in Swindon and is currently building at its nearby Stanton Chase development where new homes are available for local families from £259,995.
Commenting on the donation, Event Director for Stratton Community Fete, Rev. Elveen Mead said "we are incredibly thankful for the support from Persimmon Homes Wessex. Their generous donation enables us to enhance the experience for all attendees at this year's fete. Community events like ours are essential for fostering local spirit and providing a day of enjoyment for everyone.
“Persimmon’s contribution is greatly appreciated and will help us make this year’s fete even more memorable."
Pauline Fletcher, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes Wessex, added "we are delighted to support the Stratton Community Fete. This event is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy a day filled with activities and entertainment. Supporting local events is important to us, especially as we are actively involved in the local community with our housing development at Stanton Chase.
"Community initiatives like the Stratton Community Fete are the heart of Swindon, and we are thrilled to play a part in ensuring its success. We’d like to wish the organisers, volunteers and attendees all the best for a great event in September.”
Persimmon’s Stanton Chase site is strategically placed for the M4 and the mainline rail network, so its residential areas are ideal for commuters. Kingsdown is on the edge of the town close to the A419 which connects with the motorway at Junction 15, and the new homes will also be conveniently close to the A420 to Oxford.
The homes are built to the highest specifications, with top-quality materials and exceptional attention to detail. The development features a range of designs, from traditional to contemporary, ensuring that there is something to suit every taste and lifestyle.
The development will be circled by a footpath and greenery, with an area of green open space, including a flood attenuation pond. A new play area and numerous ecological measures such as the provision of a minimum of 75 bird boxes will also feature at the site once completed.
