Talent and teamwork earn national accolade for local site manager

21 June 2022

A high-performing site manager from South Midlands region has picked up a prestigious national award for his outstanding work.

Dan Mills, who currently works on Orchard Mews development in Pershore, Worcestershire, has won a Quality Award in this year’s ‘Pride in the Job Awards’ from leading warranty and insurance provider NHBC.

The awards recognise site managers who achieve the highest standards in housebuilding, and Dan was chosen from a field of more than 8,000 to collect the accolade.

Dan has been in the construction industry for 10 years and joined Persimmon in 2019, as assistant site manager at the Meadow View development in Redditch. In his first year, he was promoted to site manager at Worcester Gate and this award is the culmination of nearly three years’ impressive progress with Persimmon.

Commenting on the honour, 28-year-old Dan, who lives in Halesowen, said: “I am ecstatic about getting my first Pride in the Job Award. It means everything to me, and I can't describe my emotions currently. My site team give one hundred percent every day, which has been a crucial factor in this success.

“This award shows that you really do get back what you put into your work, and it’s great when the rewards come. Thank you to all my colleagues and to NHBC.”

All Quality Award winners will now go on to compete for Seal of Excellence and Regional Awards in the autumn, with the national Supreme Award winners unveiled in January 2023.

Commenting on the Awards, NHBC Chief Executive Steve Wood said: “For more than 40 years, Pride in the Job has been an important part of our work to help drive construction quality. Winning site managers tell us that it inspires them to give a little extra and to strive harder for ever-higher standards of house building.”

“Congratulations to all the 2022 Pride in the Job Quality Award winners. They are an inspiration to us all and should be very proud of the quality of new homes they are creating.”

Russell Griffin, managing director of South Midlands region, added: “This a fabulous award for Dan and reflects on the great work of his entire site team at Orchard Mews.

“We are all extremely proud of these achievements. They underline our vision to be Britain’s leading home-builder. Quality and customer service are at the heart of what we do, building the best value homes on the market in sustainable and inclusive communities.”
