Olympic Gold medallist and European champion Hailey Duff visits Saints in the Community Easter camp at McDiarmid Park.
Children in Perth brushed up on their curling skills during a special visit from local Team GB athlete Hailey Duff.
The visit, which was arranged by our North Scotland team as part of our partnership with Team GB, saw Hailey make a special appearance at the annual Easter camp run by Saints in the Community, the official charity arm of St Johnstone FC.
Hailey told the kids about her journey to winning medals for Scotland and Great Britain on the world stage before answering questions. She also showcased some off the skills that have seen her win a host of medals across the globe. Hailey spent time with the girls easter camp to discuss the trial and tribulations of becoming a champion and shared some of her top tips on overcoming challenges.
Hailey, a former European and Scottish champion curler, took home gold in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics as part of team Muirhead.
Hailey said “I really enjoyed my visit to McDiarmid Park and it was great to get such a warm welcome from volunteers and kids at the Easter camp. As someone who lives in Perth, encouraging local young people to get active and take up a sport is really important to me and through the partnership with Persimmon, we’re aiming to help inspire our next generation of medal-winners.”
James MacKay, Persimmon North Scotland Managing Director, added “One of the benefits of Persimmon’s partnership with Team GB is it gives us the opportunity to arrange these visits and give local children a unique chance to hear from someone who has reached the very top in their sport.
“We’re also delighted to be supporting Saints in the Community this season and Hailey’s visit was a great way of bringing our two partnerships together for a great event that I’m sure had a positive impact on the children.”
