The Cove is in bloom

21 May 2013

Persimmon Homes East Scotland has provided a welcome boost to the coastal village of Cove to support their entry into the prestigious Beautiful Scotland contest.

Persimmon Homes East Scotland have dug deep into their pockets to fund one of the four community flower beds  filled with beautiful plants and flowers to support the Cove in Bloom bid to win the forthcoming national competition.

In total ten planters and four flower beds will be sited across the villages of Cove and Altens to brighten and enhance the area whilst encouraging a genuine feeling of community pride.

The Cove in Bloom team, led by local volunteers, are feeling confident after their dedication and hard work resulted in them achieving the ‘Outstanding’ award in the neighbourhood awards last year.

Lorraine Clelland, Sales Director at Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: “Cove in Bloom is a great initiative and we are very proud to be associated with it.   I firmly believe that involving the local community in improving their environment is the key to success.  It is a privilege to have been approached to take part in a community project like this and I consider it to be £100 well spent.

”We wish the Cove in Bloom team and the local volunteers the best of luck in the competition.”

Wendy Suttar of the Royal Horticultural Society of Aberdeen says: “The Cove in Bloom team is extremely welcoming to everyone who has supported the project.  We would like to thank Persimmon Homes for their generous contribution, it is really encouraging to have a well renowned organisation like Persimmon backing such a noble cause.”

In the long term local residents, schools and young people’s groups are volunteering to care for the planters in the hope that they will become green fingered experts of the future.

The Persimmon flower bed, will be located close to their Charleston development, off Langdykes Drive in Cove Bay.  The development offers a range of two and three bedroom terraced, three bedroom semi-detached, and three, four, and five bedroom detached homes for sale.  Prices start from £178,000 and offers such as part exchange and MI New Homes 95% mortgages are available, making it easier than ever to own a brand new home.
