The Weald site team help clear away ice
23 February 2021
Site workers at the Persimmon Homes development in Easingwold took it upon themselves to clear an icy footpath.
Due to the recent cold weather the public footpath, that stretches east to west through The Weald development, had become icy and slippery.
A typical route for walkers to fields and Easingwold town centre, the Persimmon Homes’ workers were concerned it could be hazardous for residents and other members of the public.
James Barker from The Weald development said: “This may be a public footpath, but we felt, as we have the resources available, we could simply clear the path and spread some grit from our site compound.”
“With so many people having to stay at home it’s possible that more people are using the path than usual, so we were happy to help where we can.”
Scott Waters, managing director at Persimmon Homes Yorkshire, said: “We are very pleased that the site team at The Weald took it upon themselves to clear the path. We work hard to build new homes but believe it’s also important to support the new communities we are creating, as well as the surrounding areas, where we can.”
