Tywardreath pre-school to 'turn up the heat' following Community Champions donation

A pre-school charity which was established more than half a century ago has received a £1,000 donation towards a new heating system Community Champions.
Jo Harley of beneficiary Tywardreath Pre-School explains: “Our pre-school is a committee run charity which started in 1968 for two – four year olds and is today an important part of our village community. The school is based in an old town hall building at the centre of our village.
“While the space is great for pre-school use because it is open with big windows and high ceilings, the room can get cold in the winter months and we have been looking at how we can improve the heating and insulation of the space.
“Among the improvements we have previously raised money for is the replacement of the ceiling tiles that are insulated to improve the thermal efficiency. However, we are now turning our attention to the actual system itself which is currently providing heat via night storage heaters that are old and inefficient.
“We need to replace these with a more modern, efficient system that will keep our heating bills low and also offer a more sustainable electric solution, so we applied to Community Champions to see if they could assist us. We are grateful to Persimmon Homes Cornwall for this £1,000 donation which will give our own fund raising efforts a big boost and bring us closer to achieving our goal of a new heating system for the hall.”
Jane Cartwright, sales director for Cornwall, added: “This is a fantastic pre-school group that has been going for 54 years at the very heart of the community in Tywardreath. We fully understand their need to replace an old and inefficient heating system with something more modern that will hopefully save energy and money for them, so are really happy to be able to make this donation to their cause.”
