Wide range of groups benefit from community scheme

23 September 2015

Two regional organisations that enhance the lives of local people have received funding through Persimmon Anglia’s Community Champions scheme.

Sprowston Girls U12s football club and DIAL Lowestoft and Waveney have each been given a £1,000 boost by Persimmon Homes.

Andrew Fuller, managing director for Persimmon Homes Anglia, said: “Every month we are making two match-funding donations to charities, clubs or groups that deliver real results in the communities where we are building.

“This month’s two causes certainly demonstrate the huge diversity of voluntary sector organisations across our region, and we are proud to support their sterling work.

“We hope that many more worthy causes across Norfolk and Suffolk will come forward to seek our support, and invite charities and groups to apply by completing the online form at www.persimmonhomes.com/charity.”

DIAL is a small charity which helps disabled people of all ages and their carers with practical advice and support, helping them to retain their independence and improve their physical and mental well-being.

The organisation provides an outreach service in Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Kessingland, as well as a short-term wheelchair loan service. For more information visit www.lowestoftdial.co.uk

Sprowston Girls FC is a thriving local sports club which encourages girls in the area to participate in sport. The donation from Persimmon Homes will help to fund new waterproofs and under kit for the under-12s team, to enable the children to train outside throughout the winter months.

The club runs teams from under-10s to under-14s, playing in the Norfolk Womens & Girls football league. Anyone interested in joining can find out more at www.pitchero.com/clubs/sprowstongirlsfootballclub

The Persimmon Community Champions initiative is a national programme where charities and groups can apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves. Nationwide the company will donate a total of £750,000.
